Camira Group

We're a global organisation made up of a diverse range of specialist manufacturing businesses.

Camira Group is our umbrella organisation comprising our different trading companies, based in the UK and internationally, and specialist manufacturing businesses.

Camira Yarns

Camira Yarns became part of Camira Group in 2013, specialising in woolen spun yarns for upholstery, apparel, hand-knitting and technical end uses.

Its history goes right back to 1863, when the company was founded as Stork Brothers Ltd by the Stork family in Huddersfield, becoming part of Camira Group in 2013.

Specialist capabilities range from technical development, blending, carding, spinning and twisting, to advanced recycling of wool and cashmere yarns and fabrics. The division specialises in woolen spun yarns in a wide range of yarn counts and qualities from 100% wool, to wool blended with plant-based fibres or synthetic fibre blends.

Park Valley Dyers

Park Valley Dyers is one of two dye houses we operate, set up from scratch in 2012 with investment of over £2 million to create a state of the art facility, including the latest dye process technologies, colour laboratory and environmental systems.

The driver for investing in a brand new dye house was to improve yarn quality, colour consistency and leadtimes for our wool worsted transport yarns, rather than relying on outside suppliers who impacted on our customer service delivery to our global customer base.

The dyehouse now services the bulk of our transport yarn requirements, as well as some of our package dyed contract yarns, and top dyeing of wool, mohair and cashmere for third party customers. Leadtimes are typically around two weeks, with flexible batch sizes and a lighter footprint through cutting edge environmental initiatives.

Holmfirth Dyers

Holmfirth Dyers is our larger dyehouse, which undertakes fabric “piece” dyeing and finishing, where woven ecru fabrics are dyed as full rolls, as opposed to dyeing raw fibre or dyeing spun yarn on cone.

As its name suggests, the dye house is located in the picturesque town of Holmfirth, Yorkshire, on the edge of the Pennines, very close to our weaving mill. Originally family owned since its foundation in 1986, it became part of Camira Group in 2019, providing additionial investment in process, systems, people and technology.

As well as serving Camira, Holmfirth Dyers provides commission dyeing and finishing services to all areas of the textile industry, including apparel, furnishing fabrics and technical textiles, across all fabric types and constructions, entrusted by major fashion houses and global interiors brands alike.

Camira Knit

Camira Knit is a specialist technical kitting capability based in Nottingham, which has been an integral part of Camira Group, complementing perfectly our weaving expertise, since the acquisition of Teknit in 2000.

The business had originally been part of the Courtaulds Textiles conglomerate, creating technical textiles for automotive applications in the 1980s, before it became Teknit through a management buy-out in the early 1990s. After then, the business began to focus on commercial interior applications and Teknit created the original prototype mesh fabric for the celebrated Herman Miller Aeron chair.

Camira Knit, as we now call our Nottingham division, benefits from four decades of knitting expertise honed in the East Midlands area of the UK, renowned for both knitwear and lace.

Knit-to-fit fabric components are used widely in contract furniture applications and lighting and we’re excited to one day this innovative technology into mass passenger transport.
